DALLAS, TX — Dallas-Fort Worth DJ, producer and label founder ReyDex is carving out his place in the next generation of Texas techno, combining more than a decade and a half behind the decks with an increasingly focused mission: preserve the authenticity of underground dance music while helping push Dallas’ techno culture forward.
ReyDex, the artist project of Reynard Scroggins, has spent more than 15 years DJing and several years producing, developing a sound rooted primarily in techno while drawing influence from both the genre’s Detroit origins and its modern European evolution.
His journey has taken him well beyond North Texas. ReyDex has performed across the United States and internationally, with appearances connected to Amsterdam Dance Event, Ibiza, Belize’s Sun & Moon Festival and Lights All Night, while sharing lineups and stages with established artists throughout his career.
At home, however, Dallas remains central to the ReyDex project.
Over the years, he has performed extensively throughout the Dallas electronic music circuit, appearing at many more venues, parties and events across the city than can be captured in a short list. Select appearances include It’ll Do, Stereo Live Dallas, Sounders Dallas, COBA and The Studio at The Bomb Factory, among numerous other Dallas-area stages, while continuing to advocate for a stronger and more visible techno community in North Texas.
That mission has become increasingly important as ReyDex’s career has evolved beyond simply performing.
In 2026, he launched his independent imprint, 0VERTIME, as a platform for his own music and a longer-term vehicle for contributing to underground electronic music culture. The label’s first release, “0VERTIME,” arrived in June 2026 and represents the direction ReyDex has increasingly embraced: darker, driving, uncompromising techno built for the dance floor rather than algorithms or short-lived trends.
His catalog also includes releases such as “Dream Poison,” “What’s That Called?,” “Life We Knew,” “Villain,” “Replay” and “How It’s Done,” spanning independent labels including AFTRLIFE Records, UnderLove and House Party Records, alongside releases through his own 0VERTIME imprint.
But for ReyDex, the music is only one part of the larger story.
As a Black artist working in techno, he has also become increasingly intentional about acknowledging the genre’s history and the Black artists and communities responsible for its creation. That perspective informs his involvement with Floor Freedom Foundation, an initiative centered around authentic house and techno culture, inclusivity and creating space for communities that have historically been part of dance music’s foundation.
That mission will take a tangible step forward this Friday in Dallas, when ReyDex plays his first show officially representing Floor Freedom Foundation at Alexandre’s in Oak Lawn. The night will also feature techno artist METANØIA opening, bringing the foundation’s focus on authentic house and techno culture directly to the heart of one of Dallas’ most recognizable LGBTQ+ neighborhoods.
For ReyDex, the event represents more than another date on the calendar. It is an opportunity to connect today’s Dallas dance floor with techno’s Black roots while creating space for the genre to be heard and experienced in a community that has long played an important role in dance music culture.
Within his work with Floor Freedom Foundation, ReyDex has taken a particular interest in highlighting techno—connecting today’s dance floors with the genre’s Black Detroit roots while showing that preserving history and moving the sound forward don’t have to be opposing ideas.
His approach is also reflected visually. Rather than adopting the aesthetics of whatever happens to be trending in electronic music, ReyDex has developed what he describes as a “professional underground” identity: suits, ties, dark monochromatic imagery and a deliberately polished presentation juxtaposed against raw underground techno.
It’s a contrast that mirrors his life outside the booth. By day, Scroggins has built a career in cybersecurity and technology; by night, ReyDex operates in warehouses, clubs and festival environments. The concept of 0VERTIME grew naturally from those two worlds—the work that begins after the traditional workday ends.
After more than 15 years in music, ReyDex sees the current chapter less as a reinvention and more as a refinement.
The objective is no longer simply to play more shows. It’s to build something sustainable in Dallas: release records with a recognizable identity, create opportunities for authentic techno, support the culture surrounding it and help ensure that the history behind the music remains visible as electronic music continues to grow.
For ReyDex, that means representing Dallas while remaining connected to where techno came from—and contributing to where it goes next.
