UPDATE: Monday, June 22nd, 2026 – Work is now underway to paint the Oak Lawn Library steps a progress rainbow. Painting should conclude sometime this week, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday, June 27, 2026, with the City of Dallas, various departments, and local affiliates. Please make sure you attend.
The Cedar Springs Merchant Association (CSMA) is thrilled to invite our community to a very special celebration on Saturday, June 27th — the official ribbon-cutting for the newly painted Progress Pride Flag steps at the Oak Lawn Branch Library at 4100 Cedar Springs Rd.
This event is hosted by the City of Dallas, and CSMA is honored to sponsor this vibrant public art project. We’re asking everyone — to come out and help us fill the library plaza with color, cheers, and pride.
What’s happening?
The front steps of the library will be transformed into a brilliant rainbow staircase featuring the inclusive Progress Pride design. It’s a permanent, walkable symbol of welcome in the heart of our Oak Lawn community — and it’s here to stay.
When & Where

Date: Saturday, June 27, 2026
Time: 10:30 AM
Location: Oak Lawn Branch Library, 4100 Cedar Springs Rd, Dallas
City officials will lead the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and CSMA representatives will be on hand to join the community for the event. We’ll have photo opportunities, brief remarks, and plenty of time to walk the steps, take pictures, and celebrate together.
Why This Matters
This project is part of a larger wave of positive, visible investments in the Cedar Springs corridor—from rainbow bike racks to a new pocket park and mural program. The library steps are a joyful reminder that Oak Lawn remains a place of belonging, creativity, and resilience. And with the library’s future under discussion, showing up on June 27 sends a powerful message: we value this institution and we’re proud to see it shine.
Come as you are — bring your friends, your flags, and your smiles. The steps are for everyone, and this celebration is for all of us.
The Cedar Springs Merchant Association is proud to sponsor this project alongside the City of Dallas, Dallas Public Library, Dallas Arts & Culture, and the LGBT Chamber of Commerce. We hope to see you there — let’s make this ribbon-cutting one for the history books.
RSVP & Details
Although the event is free and open to the public, knowing the headcount beforehand would improve planning. Please email dpldir@dallas.gov to let them know you’re coming.
