The gist: The Street family has been serving great meals to North Texans for decades, so when Gene Street’s iconic original Black-Eyed Pea restaurant shuttered a few months ago, many fans were saddened. But the space has been reopened as Street’s Fine Chicken with Gene’s son Marco Street at the helm, cousin Tony as executive chef, and siblings Mariel, Gene. Jr. and Dace all on board as managing partners. With that killer team on board, excitement for the new spot will likely overpower any pangs of nostalgia. After all, their famous chicken fried steak is back.
