We are extremely proud that the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade and Festival in the Park has a strong history of being a safe and enjoyable event for everyone. We also understand that recent events have caused many, including us, to be concerned about Dallas Pride 2016. We are committed to continuous work through our security committee, comprised of current and retired law enforcement experts, to work with the Dallas Police Department and other agencies to ensure that Dallas Pride continues to be a safe and enjoyable celebration for years to come.
Please help us by doing your part to ensure a safe and fun Dallas Pride. For several years we have asked that you not bring glass containers, backpacks, coolers, or weapons. This year we will only allow clear bags into the Festival at the Park. Unattended items (bags, coolers, etc.) will be seized. To provide a safer environment for the public and significantly expedite attendee entry into theFestival in the Park, this policy has been implemented limiting the type of bags that may be brought into the event.
FESTIVAL BAG POLICY
Dallas Pride strongly encourages attendees to not bring any type of bags. However, outlined below is what is permissible. Attendees will be able to carry the following style bag, package, or container into the Festival or when approaching queue lines of attendees awaiting entry into the event:
- Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 18”x18”, or
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses, coolers, diaper bags, briefcases, messenger bags, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags. Clear plastic versions of these bags will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Attendees arriving with a bag that is not permissible will be turned away until the bag is properly stored offsite. Onsite storage is not provided.
TENTS ALONG PARADE ROUTE
Also this year, there are new rules about pop-up tents along the Parade route. No. Personal pop-up tents are no longer permitted on the parade route. Only pre-approved merchant tents will be allowed.
